It's hard to believe that just a few short months ago, I was begging for the weeks to pass as we anxiously awaited the arrival of little miss.
I changed my mind...time is passing too quickly...MAKE.IT.STOP.
Our sweet Hadley Rose is ONE month old!
(01.18.2013)
Our beautiful girl is already changing so much!
Her eyes are still dark blue which surprises me daily given her brother's eyes changed to dark dark brown about 30 seconds after birth. She has a head full of fuzzy light brown (almost sandy blonde) hair. When the light hits it just right, she has the perfect blonde highlights!
"Momma, these monthly pictures are already wearing me out...sheesh!"
(Sorry baby girl, you have a long road ahead of you on this one.)
Speaking of being worn out...our girl is wonderful sleeper so far (after we get her to sleep...more on that below)...thank goodness! She basically still sleeps most of the day with some brief awake periods, mostly in the evenings (her fussy time).
-Wakes up to eat every 3 hours during the day and will sleep 5 hour stretches at night
-We are still waking her once to eat at night per instruction from our pediatrician...I'm telling you...it's so hard to wake a sleeping baby at 3am!
-On her one month birthday she took her first nap in her crib and it was a success.
As I said, H is a wonderful sleeper...the problem is...getting her to sleep. I try and feed her around 9:30 or 10pm and then put her to bed. Sister has others plans most nights! She will be sound asleep and as soon as I lay her down and turn the lights off...she begins...the grunting and carrying on until daddy picks her up. Then...eyes shut...comatose to the world. Lay her back down...turn off the lights...and repeat. Sometimes it only requires the presence at the side of her cradle and she's back asleep. A master of mind games I tell you! On average it takes about 90 minutes from the initial feeding until we are all soundly asleep.

It's hard to believe how big she is getting already. I see her every second of every day and I even notice how much she is filling out...makes a momma sad! She is exclusively breastfed...eats like a champ...and I can't believe how much easier it is the second time around. She has now taken 2 bottles of breastmilk without a problem, which is great in case I have to leave her....which I haven't done yet!
According to our scale, she is just a little over 8 pounds now!
-Newborn Diapers
-Newborn Clothes
I have only had to put a handful of things away so far, but it broke my heart.
Also this month...
-She managed to stay healthy after spendings days around the rest of us down with the flu...just another plus of breastfeeding
-Speaking of newborn breastfed babies...don't most of them poop like ALL the time? Not my kids! Both Meyer when he was a newborn and now Hadley will hold it in for days...yes days....4 total last week for H.
-She is getting really good at lifting and holding her head up when being held. As far as tummy time...not a fan!
Right before her one month birthday, we got to see our sweet girl SMILE for the first times! Sure, we had seen lots of sleepy grins but these were legit...purposeful sweet sweet smiles. We managed to capture both occasions on camera. First she smiled at mommy during a morning feeding...
Then she surprised daddy with more during bathtime that night.
Nothing better than those first sweet smiles! It's definitely not a regular occurrence yet but we can't wait for more.
Here is the monthly comparison...
Still looking very different...I think!
Happy ONE month baby girl.
Mommy & Daddy LOVE you!

Mommy & Daddy LOVE you!

Wow one month already! she is adorable. those sweet smiles are just to cute.
ReplyDeleteWow I can't believe she in one month...her and Meyer definitely favor but she has her own looks for sure. I will tell you Nolan pooped all the time...but Conley is like once a week...the pediatrician said that is ok...sometimes b/c they are growing they use all the nutrients and have nothing left and as long as you have wet diapers you are good. Crazy huh? What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI love the smiles! She's quite the cute little girl! You are definitely making me ache for another baby!
ReplyDeleteShe is so sweet and she really is changing so much! It's crazy how much they change in those first 3 months! Ignore my comment on Instagram, as you have obviously done a comparison here. I'm with you...I think they are very different...but you can still tell they are siblings! I'm thinking she is looking more like you!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like our kiddos have the same sleep schedule! Jackson sleeps most of the day as well then wakes up to party from 11PM to 1:30 and then sleeps a good 5 hour stretch (sometimes he has a quick feeding in there, but then back straight to sleep). The poo situation is different though. I don't think I've changed just a pee diaper yet! Holy moly.
ReplyDeleteHappy 1 month Hadley! You are so sweet and adorable. Love your style. :-)
ReplyDeleteSaw your blog linked to another blog I follow! She is such a doll! I love those stickers and wondered where you got them!?
